the sunshine project

This time of year can be hard. The sun leaves us so early, yet somehow the days can feel longer than ever. I know there can be times when you struggle to find a reason to smile. And while tiny little gestures and kind words won’t fix everything, I believe they can go a long way, taking you out of the dark for a moment, reminding you that you matter, and helping get you through the rest of that day or hour or never-ending minute. They can help you smile.

Sprout’s ironically grumpy face, without fail, helps me smile. I want to keep finding ways to share that with others.

So we’re sending a little sunshine…

If someone in your life is having a hard time right now, whether they’re struggling from depression or anxiety, going through difficult situation in life, or just in need of an extra little reason to smile, we want to send them a card (shown below) to let them know they are awesome and matter.

And please remember that you are someone in your life and that reminding yourself that you are awesome and matter is so important. So if you are struggling or need a tiny little to smile, please please please send a card to yourself and know that you are not alone (pls see below for resources)

Just click below and fill out the form - you can include a personal note and your name or stay anonymous and let us write a few kind words! If you sent a card last year, you are welcome to participate again but please note it'll be the same card design.

Update (Feb 2): If you're interested in helping with The Sunshine Project, we have a limited number of Card Kits to give away! Each kit has 10 cards, stamped/addressed envelopes, stickers, a list of requests and some smaple messages to help inspire you! Just click "Request a Kit" below and fill out the form. A few notes:

  • This is generally first come first serve, but I am prioritizing individuals who are able to pick up cards at a designated time in NYC (Sprout will be there).
  • There will only be one pick-up time, but the form lets you note your preferred options and I'll try to accommodate the top choice.
  • If you are unable to make the designated pick-up time, or live elsewhere in the US, you are still welcome to fill out the form and if we end up have extra kits after pick-up we'll send you one!
  • Once I gather all the requests I'll send a follow-up email with more details/confirmation if I have a kit for you. (And I'll disable the form once I run out of kits.)
